What's the name for a tong-like instrument that has a flat side that goes into the other?

It is a tong-like instrument, supposedly used for cooking of some kind. It has one side that is wide and flat that slides in and out of the opening on the other side. The end of the flat side is bent so it can't be pulled out of the thin opening, but it can be pushed farther in.
