What is the error in measurement of current by Clamp Meter (Tong Tester)?

When I am measuring the current (in the range of 10Amps) in a wire by a clamp meter, I am getting a difference of 1Amps in the measured value depending upon the location of the wire inside the CT. If the wire is held near the clamping point (but completely inside the core) the meter shows higher value than if the wire is held at the centre of the core.

Why is the difference ?|||The difference is how well the magnetic field from the current in the wire couples to the magnetic core of the clamp part of the meter. Better coupling will give a higher reading.
