What is this Chinese tong sui called?
A few days ago, I saw my parents eat something that looked like a Chinese sweet soup (tong sui). The liquid was black and thin. I saw a brown hard boiled egg (looks like it was dyed with soy sauce or something) in each of their bowls. At first I thought it was pigs feet with ginger and black vinegar (what people eat after they get a baby) but I didn't see any pigs feet. What is this thing my parents ate?|||Don't you think that you might get a more accurate answer to your question if you were to, y'know, ask your parents?|||Like what the first answerer said, shouldn't you ask your parents instead? What does the word 'Tong' literally mean in any of the Chinese languages?
I've always wondered and seeing as it's my second name...
Well I'm not Chinese, nor can I speak it so it'd be great if someone could translate it in either Mandarin, Cantonese, Wu or any other Chinese languages?
I also know that the word 'Tong' will not be spelt like that in Chinese but I don't know the script for it so, uhh, yeah.

They both performed very impressively on a night when almost everyone else fell. Congrats to China for winning its first gold medal ever in pairs figure skating. Also congrats to the German pair for the bronze. Shen and Zhao made an error but still deserved it after their record breaking short program. Anyone know how to make the tomato soup that is served at the Hong Kong style cafes? Lor Sung Tong (cantonese.
I know there are carrots, tomato, potato, celery, cabbage, garlick and beef. But where does the flavor come from? What else am I missing? Is it a slow cooker? I love this soup and have looked everywhere for this recipe but it can't be found. Any help is appreciated!|||I'm just taking a wild guess, since I'm not familiar with this recipe, but I would think the "flavor" comes from either chicken or beef stock. I doubt it would be done in a slow cooker, just because a crock pot isn't a usual thing in asian kitchens. If it's anything like what I'm thinking, super thinly sliced beef is added just before serving. (to thinly slice beef, it works so much easier if it's about 1/2 frozen before trying to slice).

What is the best hair curling tong?
Money isn't rele an issue, but I have long straight hair that im desperate to curl. I have some GHD hair straighteners which i try to curl my hair with but it takes ages and im wondering if there's anything else thats more efficient and effective. How to make sushi and Wong tong soup?
Californian Sushi Roll recipe
Californian Sushi Roll ingredients list:
1 cup of cooked rice, warm.
陆 cup of cooked crab meat.
陆 cup of vinegar.
陆 cup of sugar.
3 tablespoons of golden caviar.
2 tablespoons of sesame seeds.
陆 avocado, chopped.
Wasabi paste.
Instructions for Californian Sushi Roll:
Mix the vinegar and the sugar in a saucepan and bring to a boil.
Cook until sugar has dissolved completely; remove from heat.
Stir 2 tablespoons of the sugar/vinegar combination into the cooked rice.
Stir the sesame seeds into the rice.
Press pickled rice into a square.
Cut rice into squares.
Press each square so that rice clings, and dab some wasabi paste on each square.
Press some crab meat, golden caviar, and avocado on each of the rice square.

Instructions for Salmon and Seaweed Sushi Roll:
Slice the pickled radish into a thin strip.

Position the nori seaweed sheets on the surface you intend on eating from, and place the sushi rice on the seaweed.
Place one strip of salmon and one strip radish in the centre and roll to form sushi.
Slice and serve with pickled ginger.

10 large Shrimp, raw.
Water, for boiling.
Salt.
2 cups of Sushi rice.
Wasabe horseradish sauce.
Instructions for Shrimp Sushi:
Skewer the shrimp from head to tail with toothpicks to prevent curling.
Place in lightly salted boiling water for 3 minutes, then transfer to ice water.
When cooled remove the shell and skewers. Make a slit in the underside of the shrimp and cut through almost to the top but not completely. Remove the dark vein.
Moisten your hands with a mixture of 1 cup water and 2 tablespoon vinegar. Take a 1 1/2 tablespoons of the sushi rice and form into a rectangular block about 2 inches long with rounded edges and sides.
Scoop up a tiny amount of Wasabe horseradish with the tip of your finger and spread it on the inside of the shrimp.
Place the shaped rice on top of the Wasabe and press gently. Press into the shrimp, but make sure it holds its shape.

3 American c. white med.-grain rice
VINEGAR SAUCE:
1 c. rice vinegar

2 heaping tsp. salt
Heat to dissolve sugar; don't boil; let cool.
FILLING:
Artificial crabmeat, mixed with mayonnaise
Cucumber, cut into thin strips
Cook rice. Let steam after cooking for 20 minutes, then put into large mixing bowl and add 1 cup of cooled vinegar sauce. Toss rice lightly but thoroughly with vinegar sauce.
When rice is cooled, spread it about 1 inch thick on a sheet of nori, leaving about 1 1/2 inches uncovered at one edge of nori to use as a sealing flap. Wet fingertips in leftover vinegar sauce to make rice easier to handle.
Place crabmeat and cucumber in a thin line across the rice. Roll the rice into a cylinder, nori side out and crabmeat in the middle. Use a bamboo sushi roller or an acrylic sushi press. Slice across the sushi roll into 8 pieces and serve. Makes about 6 rolls.

When cooked, take out with slotted spoon and place wonton into chicken broth. Boil for a few minutes. Add sliced bok choy and cook a few minutes.

3 American c. white med.-grain rice
VINEGAR SAUCE:
1 c. rice vinegar
1 c. white sugar
2 heaping tsp. salt
Heat to dissolve sugar; don't boil; let cool.
FILLING:
Artificial crabmeat, mixed with mayonnaise
Cucumber, cut into thin strips
Cook rice. Let steam after cooking for 20 minutes, then put into large mixing bowl and add 1 cup of cooled vinegar sauce. Toss rice lightly but thoroughly with vinegar sauce.
When rice is cooled, spread it about 1 inch thick on a sheet of nori, leaving about 1 1/2 inches uncovered at one edge of nori to use as a sealing flap. Wet fingertips in leftover vinegar sauce to make rice easier to handle.
Place crabmeat and cucumber in a thin line across the rice. Roll the rice into a cylinder, nori side out and crabmeat in the middle. Use a bamboo sushi roller or an acrylic sushi press. Slice across the sushi roll into 8 pieces and serve. Makes about 6 rolls.

SUSHI PLATTERS
1 strip kombu (seaweed)
1/4 c. rice vinegar (optional)
2 tbsp. barley-malt syrup
3 c. cooked brown rice
Nori seaweed
For the filling choose from: sliced, toasted, scallions; cooked spinach; sliced lengthwise carrots; powdered or pressed horseradish; sliced avocado, pickled sliced ginger, and umaboshi plum paste.
Heat the vinegar, barley-malt syrup, and kombu until boiling. Lower heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Remove kombu and pour over rice; mix well.
Spread rice on sheets of toasted nori seaweed. Place filling of your choice in center. Roll into tight roll and let sit to seal. Cut carefully into circles.

They are by Remington and they are really good. I had 2 different curling tongs and they were crap, but I love the remington one. It makes really nice curls and they last for hours (and I have really long thick hair).

I miss Jim Watkins and I would prefer to see more of Kaity Tong. This format is put together poorly and is confusing. when i bite my tong by accident while chewing gum it really hurt . well somebody told me its fast and the pain doesnt las that long.|||My sister got her tongue pierced and said it hurts alot. The problem isn't that it hurts when you get it done. It's the fact that it's gonna hurt for 1-2 weeks AFTER you get it done, and especially when you are trying to eat food.|||my friend got it.

Wonton Soup
1/4 lb. raw medium shrimp (in shells)
2 ounce lean ground pork
3 whole water chestnuts, finely chopped
2 green onions, chopped
1 teaspoon cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon sesame oil
Dash of white pepper
24 wonton skins
1 egg white, slightly beaten
5 cups water
1/2 chicken breast (about 1/2 lb.)
1/2 teaspoon cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon salt
Dash of white pepper
4 ounce Chinese pea pods
4 ounce mushrooms
4 cups chicken broth
1/4 cup sliced bamboo shoots
1 teaspoon salt
Dash of white pepper
2 tablespoon chopped green onions(with tops)
1/4 teaspoon sesame oil
Peel shrimp. Make a shallow cut lengthwise down the back of each shrimp; wash out vein. Chop shrimp finely. Mix shrimp, pork, water chestnuts, 2 green onions, 1 teaspoon cornstarch, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon sesame oil and dash of white pepper. Place 1/2 teaspoon shrimp mixture in center of wonton skin. (Cover remaining skins with plastic wrap to keep them pliable. )Fold bottom corner of wonton skin over filling to opposite corner, forming a triangle. Brush right corner of triangle with egg white. Wrap and freeze won ton. Drop frozen won ton directly into boiling water and boil for 5 to 6 minutes.

Shin pads are in skates (behind the skate tong) or above it?
I am wondering what is the best way to put shin pads in ice hockey. I tried both ways. It looks like if you tackle them in the skates you can develop kind of lace bite from shin pad, but you get better ankle support.
Your opinion please? Thanks!|||I fold the tongue forward and place the shin pad on top, then tape the shin pad to my leg. I found it was more comfortable, I avoided lace bite, and my skates had the right support.

It allows me to have better strides when I skate because I can push forward easier. Also it has a better chance of protecting the front of my ankle if I take a shot from a puck.|||I put mine on under the shin guard, it allows for more flexibility, I think.|||i wear mine above my skate just for the reason that i play field hockey too and its more comfortable for me but i have ankle problems that get really serious sometimes and then i have to wear them further down do what gives you better comfort and performance|||It's a personal preference more than anything. I typically figure that 10 sq. ft. per labor hour can be installed. And 1 labor hour costs between $30 and $50 depending on who's doing the install.
This works for ceilings or walls where no blocking is required behind the paneling. If you need blocking because of the type of installation that number will go up accordingly.

Yes, but the swelling will eventually go away.|||no, you may sound a bit lispy just after you get it done as your tongue is swollen and u need to get used to the feeling of the bar.

i have the needle and the ring should i use ice or heat? i am really wantin to get it done i am getting it in the middle of my lip|||Ice won't do anything. You should sterilize the needle (of course) and clean your lip. Find where you want it at. Angle it (Don't make it straight) and push it threw real fast, if you go slow it'll hurt a lot more. As you remove the needle slide in the ring. Clean it good, sea salt soaks 2-3 times a day.|||I really dont think you should pierce your own lip. It is very dangerous and should be done by a professional. Chances of infection are higher and you seem to have very basic questions, that someone who is piercing their own lip should already know. I believe there are nerves you can hit so you want to be cautious and safe! Go to a professional , it doesn't cost that much, and it is a comforting thought to know it wont be done wrong. :)|||Umm you don't !

How to get curls / waves without using a curling tong?
Well would like to know how to get loose curls or wavy hair but without using the curling tongs or any other heat using instrument?|||-You can try this method for curls:
Begin this hairstyle on hair that is only slightly damp as wet hair will take too long to dry. Starting at the bottom portion of your hair grab a small section, approximately one inch by one inch and apply a volumizing spray.
Now wrap the section around your finger and begin to twist. Keep twisting the hair section until it is twisted all the way up to the roots of your hair.
Coil the section into a pin curl (a large circle) and place a small amount of tissue paper on top of the coil; this will prevent a dent from forming when you secure the coil to your head with a large bobby pin.
Continue to repeat this procedure until all of your hair is done. If you have fine hair you should end up with approximately ten sections while thicker hair may have upwards of twenty.
Let your hair completely dry. Air drying is best but if you鈥檙e in a hurry you can speed up the process by giving the coils quick blasts of a blow dryer. Just don鈥檛 overdo it with the drier as it may cause your hair to become flyaway or give it frizz.
You can now remove the pins and very gently unroll the coils. Try to avoid handling them as much as possible to keep the waves intact. If you wish you can mist your hair with a light shine enhancing product for a healthy sheen. It鈥檚 best to skip the hair spray though, as this hairstyle is meant to look natural and free鈥攏ot stiff. This hairstyle is perfect for giving fine, limp hair body without overloading it with hair products.

I got a black spot on my tong i just noticed it at school friday in the bathroom. I am not sure if it was b/c i was on antibiotics for a cold or not, i do not take it by mouth though long story. I am so familiar with this problem.Before I give you any advice about products and such I have to tell you that it takes a while for the hair to be trained and once your hair is trained then it really doesn鈥檛 matter what kind of products you use. In my opinion shampoo and conditioner is not such a big deal. I use Tresemme shampoo and conditioner,I always use a leave in conditioner, as well as a heat protector spray by Tresemme. Also, rinse with tepid water, actually as cool as you can take it, it makes the hair shine. After that I use the leave in conditioner and the heat protector spray. I try to let my hair air dry as much as possible to illuminate the amount of heat. So, then I blow dry! This is when the Super Skinny Serum comes in to play, then I use a light oil, like Hot Six. Its a liquid, this helps to lubricate the hair so that it doesn鈥檛 singe while flat ironing. Now, use a small amount of oil but for the first day it will seem a little heavy but not super heavy, you will still have major body. Always remember to wrap your hair at night with a soft/slick material so that it doesn鈥檛 pull or split. One last thing, a lot of people spend macho bucks on expensive flat irons but I kid you not, I paid 15 bucks for my flat iron and it is the best one I have ever owned. I wouldn鈥檛 make it without my flat iron. It is Andris and I purchased from Walmart Actually all of the products I use can be bought from Walmart.I hope this information is helpful. Don鈥檛 lose hope and remember once you train your hair it will be almost as if you have a different texture and then it will be more manageable..

3.Moisten side corners of wonton wrapper with egg white. Bring side corners together, overlapping slightly; pinch together firmly to seal. Cover finished wontons with plastic wrap while filling remaining wontons. (Cook immediately, refrigerate up to 8 hours or freeze in resealable bag.)
4.Cut bok choy stems into 1-inch slices; cut leaves in half crosswise. Set aside.
5.Add wontons to large pot of boiling water; cook until filling is no longer pink, about 4 minutes (6 minutes if frozen); drain. Place in bowl of cold water to prevent wontons from sticking together.
6.Bring chicken broth to a boil in large saucepan.

Im scarede i got my tong peirced and im scared it will get infected what chance do i have that it wont?

In some places like Brazil and Miami Florida thongs to the beach are or where in style at one point. How to a prevent scarring on a curling tong burn?
Please help me, it's on my neck and it's going to look like a permanent love bite if it scars, ha ha. But really, I'm not laughing, HELP!!!
Due to being somewhat of an idiot, I put Nivea after-sun on it, because it's the closest thing to "oh **** I just burned myself" cream I can find.
I do have some bio-oil, should I start applying that, will that stop it from scarring?|||I've done that before and yeah....it can be embarrassing. It'll eventually go away. I've never had a scar from a curling iron burn. It's usually not on the skin long enough to cause a deeper burn for scarring to happen. Just keep it clean and apply whatever you want. Aloe or lotion with vitamin E.

What size herstyler curling tong should i get?

Heat them up while you do other things, put them in your hair, do your make up, take them out. You don't have to be too precise. I tried to do it myself at home from straightened with every spray you can think of and by the time I got round to the other side they where dropping out, also if I used too much spray my curls didnt look natural.
But if your hair isnt too bad when not straightened I think the best curl spray is Hot Curl by Loreal, althought it is very sticky and the person who is doing you hair might get stick hands and a sticky curling tong this is the only thing that worked for me. Also the Wella Shock Waves Curling Spray is good too if says you have to use it on damp hair before you dry it, But I was desperate to get my curl to stay in so I used it on dry, it was less stickly than the loreal one but it didnt hold for as long.
When the hairdresser did my hair she use a hairspray called sunsilk anti drop, this dryed my hair out loads with the heat an all but the curls didnt drop out as much, but I cant find anywhere to get this from.
If I was you I would just keep it straight and add somesort of clip or something to your hair to add a bit of colour or glam. as you dont want to be checking your hair every minute to see if you curl has dropped and if they do you dont want to be carring hair curlers around with you most of the day as they will eventually fall out and deffiantly wont last the whole day whereas if you keep it straight or have it up it will stay out all day.
