What does the word 'Tong' literally mean in any of the Chinese languages?

I've always wondered and seeing as it's my second name...

Well I'm not Chinese, nor can I speak it so it'd be great if someone could translate it in either Mandarin, Cantonese, Wu or any other Chinese languages?

I also know that the word 'Tong' will not be spelt like that in Chinese but I don't know the script for it so, uhh, yeah.

Thanks!|||Being a surname, it's just like English and has no meaning. Tong is the Cantonese spelling for either 唐 táng or 董 dǒng in Mandarin. The 'tang' here is like the Tang Dynasty and 'dong' can mean 'director' like in a company but they're both mainly surnames and don't mean anything.|||It is very common that multiple Chinese characters have the same pronunciation. So you have to provide the written form of the character to get the exact meaning.
